Nancy Freymond

Greetings! I am a White (she/her) settler of Swiss and Irish ancestry, currently living in southern Ontario, Canada. I am a daughter, mother and stepmother of three grown children and a new grandmother. I’ve worked in systems of child welfare in the past and now am an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. I am interested in the hopeful and transformative dynamics of storytelling and critical dialogues involving people with lived expertise of child welfare systems. To that end, I am a founding member of the Child Welfare TRUTH-Telling Collective. My program of research, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council explores the values, experiences and adaptations of young people placed in out-of-home care and their experiences of permanency over time.
