Submission Check-Box Agreement/Consent Form

As part of your contribution to and engagement with the TRUTH-Telling Collective (the “Collective”), it is important that you fully understand and consent to the following responsibilities and risks.

This website is intended to showcase the research and work being done by the Collective, and to invite the public to share their stories on the website with the goal that doing so will give space and a home to these lived experiences.

If you are of legal age (i.e. 18 years old or older) and wish to share your story, you can submit it to us as directed on the website. Your story may be submitted in various forms, including written, visual, or auditory form. As a condition of your submission, we ask that you remove all identifying information from your story. We also require that before submitting any visual or auditory material to us, that you contact us in advance in written form so that we can advise of any risks or concerns with the submitted material. The storage and handling of your story, and your data, is governed by our Privacy Policy.

We will be reviewing all submissions before posting them on the website. Before doing so, we will confirm with you the final form of the story - whether we make edits or whether in its original submitted format - and request that you confirm your consent for posting it on the website.

It is important that you understand that we cannot guarantee the anonymity of your story or information. There is a possibility that a third party may be able to ascertain details about you or the people who may be described in your story, even if the story is in anonymized form. The sharing of your story may also raise the possibility of emotional, mental, or physical discomfort or distress. By submitting your story, you are agreeing to assume these risk, and you will not hold the Collective, or its related entities and partners (including, if applicable, Wilfrid Laurier University), responsible for any damages, losses, or injury that may result from the sharing of your submitted story to the Collective’s website.

You further acknowledge and agree that the Collective may, at its sole discretion, refuse to post your submission or after posting, to remove your submission from the website if it has a concern regarding the safety, suitability, or reputational risks to the Collective or any third-party by your submission. The Collective shall at all times retain control over the website and its contents.

If, however, you wish to retract your submission before or after posting or wish for the Collective to remove your submission from the website for any reason whatsoever, you may do so by a request in writing. The Collective will remove the submission, or stop the submission posting process, within forty-eight (48) business hours of such a request.
